Haiphong or Lach Huyen?

Haiphong’s river terminals handle most of northern Vietnam’s containers. Lach Huyen, the deep-water terminal at the mouth of the port, takes larger ships and is often used for direct services to the U.S. West Coast.

Factories in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Hai Duong are usually a few hours by truck from either terminal. We compare sailings from both and book the one that gets your cargo to Los Angeles on the best schedule and rate.

Getting Your Cargo Ready in Northern Vietnam

A smooth shipment starts at the factory. Before your cargo ready date, make sure your supplier has these covered:

  • Wood pallets and crates must be heat-treated or fumigated and carry the ISPM 15 stamp. U.S. inspectors can refuse untreated wood at the port.
  • Carton marks: your company name, the purchase order number and carton count (for example, 1 of 120) on each carton.
  • Accurate weights and dimensions on the packing list, so the container is booked at the right size.
  • ISF details such as the seller, buyer and product codes, sent to us early so the filing is made at least 24 hours before loading.
  • A supplier contact our partners can reach to confirm the pickup time and address.

If several suppliers are shipping in the same container, send us each one’s ready date. We plan the pickup around the latest one so nothing is left behind.

Documents You’ll Need

  • Commercial invoice: seller, buyer, product descriptions, values and Incoterms
  • Packing list: cartons, weights and dimensions per carton
  • Bill of lading: issued by the carrier or our licensed forwarding partner
  • ISF (10+2) data: filed at least 24 hours before the container is loaded in Vietnam
  • Certificate of origin: when your product or buyer needs one
